What is a moodtape? Moodtape definition and process

Many clients ask me what a moodtape is. It is a fundamental creative tool in art direction: a rhythmic video edit that assembles existing film excerpts, images and sounds to express a visual and emotional intention before production.

The value of a moodtape lies in its ability to align every team — clients, directors, creatives — on the same mood or tone. It is the video version of the classic moodboard, and it has become essential in the luxury world.
